Lynda W. Tyler, Kansas - Texas
Starting in her youth Lynda Tyler has been professionally trained to be a leader. As a First Class Girl Scout she was invited to join the Red Cross Youth Council where she spent the next 4 summers at Leadership Development Centers across two states. By the time she was 18 years old she was on the Board of Directors of the Midway Kansas Chapter of the American Red Cross and President of the Youth Council. Lynda held 14 active Red Cross certifications in CPR, first aid and disaster services. Her senior year in High School she started and sponsored a Red Cross Youth program in the Rose Hill Middle School. Later Lynda was selected as sole representative for the United States to Germany as an invited guest judge for their national first aid competition. While there she toured with the Bavarian Red Cross visiting schools and meeting with German dignitaries. In High School Lynda was the founder of the Art Club, President of the Forensics team and a very active member of the Y-Teens a YWCA youth organization. Lynda was first chair Clarinet and Bassoon in orchestra and state forensics champion in oration and extemporaneous speaking. She was a member of the Drama club and performed lead roles in several musicals and apprenticed with the professional Music Theater of Wichita. In 1979 she graduated from Patricia Stevens Finishing School. After graduating high school in 1982 as Valedictorian and Social Science Student of the year, Lynda distinguished herself at WSU as a member of the Emory Lindquist Honors Society and an officer of Alpha Kappa Phi business fraternity. Lynda paid for two years of college through scholarships won through the Miss America Scholarship program.
Professionally, Lynda was one of the youngest in the state of Kansas to pass the NASD Series 7 securities licensing examination in 1983. She is also a NASD registered Principle and Registered Investment Advisor. She has obtained the professional designations of CFS – Certified Fund Specialist – and CLTC – Certification in Long Term Care. Lynda was the 2010 President of the Arkansas Valley Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors and member of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA). She was also a regular qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table and a charter member of WIFA - Women in Insurance and Financial Services. Over her 33 year career, Lynda won over 50 industry awards, opened 3 investment firm offices, and supervised up to 106 insurance/securities brokers at any one time. She has also served as an Investment Specialist, Annuity Specialist, Sales Manager and Compliance officer responsible for the training and motivation of new and existing sales representatives for Fortune 100 Companies in the Securities, Insurance and Banking Industries.
For several years in Kansas, Lynda was President/ CEO of Impressions Inc. Etiquette, Poise, Sales and Success training company. She is a Zig Ziglar trained motivational and sales speaker/ trainer; a 2007 graduate of Barbizon International School of Modeling and a licensed etiquette teacher by Etiquette-Network and the Robin Thompson Charm School. She is a member of the Association of Image Consultants International. Lynda was the 2007 Mrs. Kansas for America’s Touch of Class Pageants and was 2nd Runner up at nationals in Las Vegas. For 2008 she was Mrs. Kansas National America and Ms. Kansas Lady Universal Elegance and Mrs. National American. In 2008 she was also Mrs. Kansas Plus America and 4th Runner up at nationals and the director of the Miss Teen, Miss Junior Teen and Mrs. Kansas United States Pageant. In 2009 she held a national title as Mrs. National America and was the executive director for the Miss Kansas High School America pageant. Obviously Lynda was active in pageantry and regularly coached and judged for the Miss Kansas America and other Pageant systems. Lynda believes “Pageants are about the woman you become preparing for the competition.” As a pageant coach she knows that the skills young women learn in pageantry will serve them well in the business world.
Lynda’s civic diversions include the Sedgwick County Pachyderm Club where she was the 2007 Club President, 2005, 2006 and 2008 Club Secretary and one of the founding members. She was also the 2005 and 2008 club secretary for the Wichita Pachyderm Club and 2009 Vice President of the Wichita Pachyderm Club. She believes “Free Government Requires Active Citizens” and encourages others to take part in the political process rather than just complaining about it. She was also an active member of the Sedgwick County Republican Women and Republican Women United.
Lynda is the founder and Past-President of Kansans for Liberty and successfully organized the August 28th, 2009 American TEA Party and the November 4th Tea Party Express event in Wichita, KS. Since then she has organized 8 major events and countless smaller ones. A member of the NRA, Smart Girl Politics, 9-12, Independence Caucus and Oath Keepers she believes citizens need to stand up and protect the Constitution of the United States. Following those beliefs, Lynda ran for the Wichita City Council in the spring of 2011 against a borrow and spend incumbent. She did not win but her opponent and his supporters spent 7 times more money and over twice a normal run for a city council seat.
From autumn of 2007 to 2012, Lynda was a part time business counselor for SCORE. SCORE is a volunteer organization and part of the US Small Business Administration.
Lynda believes in life long learning and having an interest in Law matriculated to the online Novus Law School in 2008. She graduated in 2010 with a 4.0 GPA. She can't sit for the bar but had no desire to be an attorney anyway. In education, Lynda believes it isn't always the piece of paper that counts, it is the useful knowledge you can apply to real life.
In the fall of 2013 Lynda started the Northeast Texas Community College Culinary Arts program where she is thoroughly enjoying learning the cooking techniques our mothers never knew. She and some of her classmates have successfully catered private events as well as those associated with the school. Of course she Graduated in 2014.
Lynda’s husband, Rob, is a former Marine and they were very active members of the American Legion and are charter members of the American Legion Riders aka Patriot Guard Riders for Post 401 in Wichita, Kansas. As members of the American Legion Riders they have had the pleasures of participating in military homecomings, deployments and the escort of fallen soldiers from the airport to the mortuary and later to the cemetery. In 2008 Rob was the President of the Miles Hidden Lakes Homeowner’s Association and Lynda was the Secretary and Social Director for the neighborhood.
Lynda has written three books. One on her family’s genealogical history, one on pageants and a financial workbook for financial planners and attorneys. She has two other books under construction, including a motivational book and a financial workbook for financial planners and attorneys to use with their clients.
In 1999 Rob and Lynda met while taking ballroom dance lessons in Denver, Colorado. And, yes, they do have a wall full of dancing awards including the 2000 South Central United States Fred Astaire Dance sport Amateur Championship. Between them they are the parents /step-parents of 5 boys age 22, 23, 24, 26 and 29. Rob spent most of the first decade in the 2000's as a part time substitute high school teacher and full time domestic engineer. December 7, 2012 he completed the curriculum at Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix Arizona and became a certified Harley Davidson and Yamaha technician. Rob did his "residency" with Lone Star Harley Davidson in Tyler, TX. In May 2014 Rob founded Texas Motorcycle Service in Mt Pleasant, Texas specializing in Harley Davidson service and repairs.
In September 2014 Lynda passed her Realtors licensing exam and spent 8 years as a Realtor. Three of those years she was the President of the Titus Camp Morris and Upshur Counties Board of Realtors.
In January 2021 she and her husband and her business partner started on a journey to rehab an old farm and build an event and wedding venue. Their first wedding was November 20, 2021.
Lynda believes you can accomplish anything you set your mind to - just be careful what you choose.
